San Diego Zoo Hosts Homosexual “Circuit Party”     7/31/2002
By Leigh Hughes

“The San Diego Zoo should be a safe place for all patrons at all times, especially for our children,” said Cindy Moles, Area Director, Concerned Women for America of San Diego and Imperial Counties. “This was not the case this past Sunday.”

As part of “Gay Pride Weekend,” the San Diego Zoo hosted a homosexual “circuit party” attended by up to 4,000 homosexuals.

CWA joined San Diego Christians United in a demonstration outside to warn families about the “circuit party” before they entered the zoo. More than 150 protesters lined the entrance, peacefully displaying “warning” signs. Several local television stations covered the protest, as did KOGO radio and News Notes, a local newspaper.

This party was widely promoted on homosexual Web sites. Photos from last year’s zoo party on the promoter Powerhouse Productions’ Web site show numerous men without shirts, some appearing to be nearly naked except for body paint, and others kissing on the lips; another photo shows two women appearing to fondle one another.

Public restroom facilities are popular meeting places at “circuit parties” for sexual encounters and pose a danger to unsuspecting children or others who may encounter drug use or sexual misconduct.

A study published in the June 2001 issue of American Health Journal links homosexual dance parties to an increase in the rate of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). According to the report, 84 percent of attendees acknowledged using drugs during the circuit party weekends, and 25 percent of those surveyed admitted engaging in unprotected sexual contact during party weekends.

“We were astonished that decision-makers at the San Diego Zoo would put the health and safety of San Diego’s citizenry at risk by providing a venue where these questionable activities might take place,” Moles said.
