Roe v. Wade     1/28/1998

January 22 marked the 25th anniversary of one of the most controversial and divisive court decisions in American history: Roe vs. Wade.

To commemorate the occasion, pro-life groups marched to the steps of the Supreme Court in protest of the decision which legalized abortion. Abortion opponents numbering the tens of thousands called for the overturning of the decision, which has cost this country some 35 million lives since its inception.

Featured at the rally was Norma McCorvey, the 'Roe' of the historic case, who is now a born again Christian and vocal opponent of abortion. She spoke about how the facts of her case were turned into lies in order to further the pro-abortion agenda. She now calls for the reversal of the decision.

Said Miss McCorvey, ”I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to each and every one of you today. I lied and I'm sorry“(Washington Times, 1/23/98). She changed her position on abortion in 1995.

Also in attendance at the rally was Sandra Cano, the plaintiff in the companion case of Doe vs. Bolton, decided the same day as the Roe case. She said that she never wanted an abortion. ”I was poor, pregnant, uneducated, seeking assistance and getting a divorce from a man who was a convicted child molester. My only source of help was Atlanta Legal Aid. Instead of the help I sought, a feminist attorney turned my circumstances into a tool to achieve her agenda -—legalizing abortion,“ said Mrs. Cano.

”For over 20 years now, my name has been synonymous with abortion. I was against abortion then. I am against abortion now. I never sought an abortion. I have never had an abortion. Abortion is murder.“

Action: Please pray that the Roe v. Wade decision will be overturned, the sanctity of life will be restored, and millions of innocent lives will be saved each year. Write or call your legislator in protest of 25 years of legalized infanticide and urge him to take action. Call your Senator and demand their vote to override the Partial Birth Abortion Ban veto.

Also pray that the millions of women -—and men -—suffering from the emotional scars of abortion will find the healing grace that only our Lord can give.
