There are several myths about our nation's founding, all based on partial truths says Michael Farris, Constitutional Attorney, General Counsel of the Home School Legal Defense Association and Chancellor of Patrick Henry College. One says that early settlers came to the New World to bring religious liberty. Secularists counter that those very settlers practiced religious intolerance and it took the secular enlightenment to bring true religious liberty to our nation. In his new book From Tyndale to Madison: How the Death of an English Martyr Led to the American Bill of Rights Farris examines historical evidence and shows that it was really a correct understanding of salvation that brought true religious liberty to our nation, replacing a more restrictive religious tolerance. Farris' work provides an unflinching look at the flawed men involved in the process and in doing so bestows even more glory on our Lord who works His will through, and despite, the actions of mankind.
