Just as Justin Timberlake shocked the audience of the 2004 Super Bowl by exposing Janet Jackson's breast on national television, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals has shocked that audience once again, this time by stripping the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of its regulatory power to fine instances of nudity on national television. While there is still hope that the FCC will appeal this decision, there is something that outraged citizens can do. Dan Isett, Policy Analyst for the Parents Television Council, says that key legislation is being held up in the U.S. Senate that would reinstate and reaffirm the FCC's ability to regulate content on the publicly-owned broadcast airwaves to protect children.
