Call to Action: Contact Retailers Regarding Hounddog Movie DVD Release     2/20/2009
By Field Staff

Concerned Women for America (CWA) has sent letters to retailers regarding the February 17 DVD release of the movie, Hounddog, starring Dakota Fanning. CWA of North Carolina began the "No More Child Porn" campaign after learning that the film included a child rape, sexualized the nine year-old Fanning character in numerous scenes, and was filmed in North Carolina partly at taxpayer expense.

Donna Miller, director of the "No More Child Porn" campaign, was contacted by a convicted child molester who told her adamantly that this type movie would be dangerous to individuals with "perverted sexual habits."

CWA's letter asks top retailers not to stock the movie out of respect for the best interest and safety of our children. It also includes an earlier letter from CWA and No More Child Porn directed to then-United States Attorney General Michael Mukasey requesting an investigation into the movie for possible child pornography violations.

Hounddog flopped at the box office largely due to CWA of North Carolina and Movieguide's Dr. Ted Baehr joining forces to alert citizens to the dangers of what Dr. Baehr called "simulated pedophilia."

Empire Film Group, the film's distributor, is looking to regain their investment through DVD sales, so CWA and No More Child Porn are posing this question to retailers: "Is money more important than putting kids at risk of being molested?"

You can help CWA and No More Child Porn by contacting the following retailers who received the letter:
