CWA Welcomes New State Director in Hawaii

By Rebekah Reis

What can God do with three women who meet regularly to pray for their state? "More than I ever thought possible," believes Barbara Ferraro, Concerned Women for America's (CWA) newest state director.

CWA is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Ferraro as State Director for CWA of Hawaii. Barbara's appointment comes at an important time for Hawaii, a state with few outspoken conservative voices.

Barbara was first drawn to CWA after a phone conversation with a CWA staff member. The call came at an opportune time, as Barbara was looking for ways to become more involved in her community following her husband's passing. "I began a new chapter in my life, and I was able to become involved in a lot of things that were all about God," Barbara said. When she discovered that there were no CWA chapters in Hawaii, Barbara immediately started a Prayer/Action Chapter in her home.

Two-and-a-half years later, Barbara is excited about assuming a new leadership role in CWA of Hawaii. "I am hoping to see Hawaii's CWA members become even stronger, more mobilized, and more united with someone at the helm to lead them. I joined CWA because I knew that this was an organization that was already well known, especially in Washington, D.C., and because of their goals and core values. I saw that because of their visibility and dependence upon Biblical values, CWA was being used by God. I wanted to be part of an organization like that. I believe that God is going to help CWA of Hawaii accomplish so much more than we ever thought possible," Barbara states.

Barbara and her team will face many challenges in the future, including ongoing battles defending traditional marriage and protecting the unborn. But Barbara looks forward to these challenges with faith and confidence. "I truly believe CWA is something with which God has already planned for me to become involved," says Barbara. "And He does not ask us to do things without equipping us to be able to handle anything that comes against us."

Kenda Bartlett, CWA's National Field Director, is excited to welcome Barbara Ferraro to CWA's growing number of state directors. "Barbara is an answer to our prayers; we are looking forward to seeing the work of CWA in Hawaii grow and prosper under her leadership and the guidance of the Holy Spirit," says Kenda.

When asked what readers can do to become more involved, Barbara answered:

"Women in Hawaii can be more involved in CWA by first of all becoming members, and then by becoming Prayer/Action Chapter Leaders. They can also realize that while this is mainly a women's organization, it is not exclusively for women and there are also many men involved in CWA. I see this as an opportunity for women to get their husbands involved in CWA's mission, which hopefully will cause other men to step up to the plate as well. I would ask any woman in Hawaii that is reading this news flash to contact me to learn more about helping CWA stand for family values in Hawaii."

If you are interested in getting involved with CWA of Hawaii, please e-mail the CWA National Field Development Coordinator, or call her at (800) 458-8797 ext. 106. If you would like to get involved with one of our other fine state organizations, please visit the CWA in the States site.
