Combating Child Prostitution in Georgia 8/13/2009 Click for more multimedia content.
Due to the frank discussion of this subject matter, listener discretion is advised. Atlanta is the transportation hub of the Southeast and is also a desirable convention location. The constant movement of people, plus an established adult entertainment industry, has led to child prostitution, sex trafficking, and sex tourism; problems that are no longer confined to the city. CWA of Georgia State Director Tanya Ditty introduces us to State Senator Renee Unterman (R-District 45) who is spearheading numerous efforts to clamp down on the problem. Two measures, one to help stop the exploitation of minors by the adult entertainment industry and another to place the cost burden of rehabilitation of former sex workers on the industry which is creating the demand for child prostitution, have yet to be passed by the state legislature. Both ladies share how this "perfect storm" should concern citizens in other hub cities and how the problem of child prostitution is surfacing in smaller towns and middle class neighborhoods across the nation. They also note that, surprisingly, citizens can't simply assume that pro-life/pro-family lawmakers will act to combat this problem. Listen | Download
