WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Concerned Women for America joined with the National Organization for Women and the Parents Television Council today in publicly rebuking CBS for airing the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show tonight.
“It’s nothing but high-tech strip show with millions of children in the audience,” said CWA’s Chief Counsel Jan LaRue. “Would CBS executives send their daughters or granddaughters down the runway knowing they will be lusted after by men across the country? CBS makes a craven play for ratings during November sweeps and Victoria’s Secret gets a prime time infomercial just in time for the Holidays.”
In a letter to CBS President and CEO Les Moonves, the three groups chastised CBS for “scraping the bottom of the barrel” just to lure young viewers.
“It also tells viewers that CBS is more concerned with profit than in serving America’s families. The public deserves better and expects the best you have to offer. The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show certainly will not be CBS’s finest hour. CBS truly is better than this,” the letter says.
LaRue noted police organizations have repeatedly documented how many violent criminals are found to be long time addicts of pornography, and how all porn addicts have to start somewhere.
“Television executives apparently just don’t care that they are sending a dangerous message to millions of impressionable girls and boys about what makes women vaulable,” Rios said.
