Press Conference to Reveal Public Demand for Channel Choice on Cable 4/29/2004 Washington, D.C. Concerned Women for America (CWA) and Citizens for Community Values (CCV) will release a poll and ad campaign at a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday, May 5, 2004. The groups call on Congress to satisfy the public outcry for channel choice on cable.
You dont have to pay for a cooking class to buy a ticket for a play-off game, but to see the game on cable, you have to pay for the cooking class too, said Jan LaRue, chief counsel for Concerned Women for America. The cable companies already have the capacity for a la carte pricing. In fact cable customers in Canada are already saving money because of channel choice. But Americans have no choice in selecting their basic cable package under the current market controls. The people voted for choice in our poll, and were asking cable companies and Congress to listen to the people.
