Truth is on the pro-life side. Science proves the case. When technology gave us access to information, the tide began to turn. Ultrasound gave us greater detail and we could actually see inside the womb and there the proof was self-evident. There was the fetus –- an active baby -- sucking its thumb. Later, a picture was broadcast around the world of a tiny fist gripping a surgeon's thumb during surgery before birth! Solid information on the Internet became readily available and young people could research the facts for themselves. They could read reports, see the trends and study the analyses.

Now, it is obvious that the elites have lost their grasp on the grass roots. The pro-abortion groups, and those liberal advocates who claim to speak for women, are seriously out of touch with today's young women. Today's generation is more and more pro-life. A recent poll from UCLA indicates that in over 400 universities the freshmen are now 10 percentage points lower in their approval of abortion than a decade ago, dropping dramatically from 67% to 54%.

And, a New York Times/CBS Poll in January indicated that 18 to 29 year olds who think that abortion should be generally available dropped from 48% in 1993 to 39% in 2004.

A Newsweek poll in February revealed that only 3 percent of 18 to 29 year olds said that abortion was the most important issue facing women today.

Vivid pictures, solid facts and logical analyses persuaded young people that sex is more than just fun and games. The truth substantiated the pro-life arguments. Scientific data backed up the case for life and exposed the myths behind the "pro-choice" campaign. The abstinence message took hold. Teen pregnancy trended down and young people developed a new respect for life.

The number of abortion clinics in the United States decreased by over 40% between 1970 and 1998 because not enough doctors were willing to provide abortions and fewer women were asking for them.

In 1980 there were only 500 crisis pregnancy centers in the United States. By 1990 there were 2000. Now there are at least 4000.

Indeed, even the feminists agree that abortion is facing its "most serious threat in decades."

The truth is on the pro-life side. And science proves the case: the more sophisticated the sonograms and the more available the scientific data, the harder it is to avert our eyes and turn away from that baby sucking his thumb.
