CWA Looking Forward to Dignified Process     9/12/2005
-Fair Hearing, Fair Vote-

Washington, D.C. –– Concerned Women for America (CWA) eagerly awaits fair and impartial treatment, from both Republicans and Democrats, in the nomination process for Supreme Court Chief Justice nominee Judge John G. Roberts.

This week presents a monumental time in history that will entrust U.S. senators with the opportunity to confirm an excellent candidate who could uphold the Constitution for decades to come.

Upon nomination, Roberts has been widely praised by respected members of both the Left and the Right as an excellent lawyer with impeccable legal credentials. Those who know Roberts have described him as measured, thoughtful and honest. He is a highly regarded man of integrity.

Such a capable candidate deserves to be shown respect and impartiality throughout his nomination process. “Americans must demand that senators' unjustified demands aren't allowed to subvert the confirmation process and deny confirmation of qualified nominees,” commented Wendy Wright, CWA’s Executive Vice President. An independent judiciary is one that is not politicized. Senators should restrain themselves from demanding comments from Judge Roberts on political issues or potential upcoming cases.”

“Judge Roberts has carried himself with dignity. We believe he would add value to the U.S. Supreme Court, in that he seeks solutions from the Constitution rather than being beholden to elitists and polls. Senators have the duty to respect the nominee, the judiciary and the process.”
