CWA Chief Counsel Jan LaRue to Join Panel Discussion on Alito     11/18/2005

Washington, D.C.—Concerned Women for America (CWA) Chief Counsel Jan LaRue will be a guest panelist at Judicial Watch’s “Conservative Perspectives on the Alito Nomination.” This panel of influential conservative leaders will provide a comprehensive look at Supreme Court nominee Judge Samuel Alito.

Who: Jan LaRue, CWA Chief Counsel

Tom Fitton, Judicial Watch President

Manual Miranda, Third Branch Conference Chairman

Roger Pilon, Cato Institute Vice President for Legal Affairs

What: Panel Discussion: “Conservative Perspectives on the Alito Nomination”

When: Monday, November 21, 2005 at 12:30 PM

Where: The National Press Club’s First Amendment Lounge

529 14th Street, NW

Washington, D.C. 20045

* Press and public are welcome to attend this event, free of charge.

LaRue will focus her comments on the importance of Judge Alito’s confirmation to the Supreme Court with respect to religious liberty. “There is hardly any subject that has been more adversely affected by Supreme Court rulings,” she said. “The public is baffled and angered by Supreme Court decisions released on the same day that declare the public posting of the Ten Commandments constitutional on the grounds of the Texas Capitol but unconstitutional on the wall of a Kentucky courthouse.

“Public school officials tell children and their parents that Christmas cannot be mentioned in school and that red and green decorations violate the Establishment Clause. The consideration of just a few of Judge Alito’s rulings on the subject of religious liberty demonstrates that the religious liberty of the majority and minority are safe in his hands.”
