Adapting to the Culture     11/7/2006
By Wendy Wright & Janice Crouse

Quote: Tucker Carlson, MSNBC

Candidates who are winning in races where they were not expected to win are those who are repudiating Clintonism. They are much more conservative on social issues and that plays with the public. Democrats are changing, and it's not just PR.

Response: Wendy Wright, CWA President

A number of Democratic candidates, who appear to have won, ran as conservatives. It may be more accurate now to describe politicians by their positions than their party. But that hinges on whether they vote according to party leadership's demands or if they live up to the image they conveyed to voters.

Response: Janice Crouse, Director and Senior Fellow of CWA's Beverly LaHaye Institute

Not only are the Democrats changing, the liberal networks are also adapting to changed circumstances. Note that CNN has two conservative commentators for their election coverage -- J.C. Watts and Bill Bennett. That is a major shift toward better balance in CNN's commentary!
