“Day of Silence” Articulates Condemnation of Biblical Values 4/19/2007 By Martha Kleder April 18 pro-homosexual day countered by "Day of Truth." This Wednesday, April 18, homosexual students and their supporters will refuse to participate in class, remaining silent in protest over the treatment of "sexual minorities." Along with its disruptive nature in the classroom, the day also sends clear messages to Christian students that Biblical views of human sexuality are "homophobic," "hateful" and "discriminatory."
Matt Barber, Concerned Women for America's (CWA) Policy Director for Cultural Issues says the "Day of Silence" is the creation of homosexual activist groups hoping to instill a victim mentality among today's youth.
"The radical homosexual lobby has done a masterful job of infiltrating our government schools to gain control of the minds of our youth. Their propaganda tactics are time-tested," Barber said. "With liberal school officials in tow, they brazenly circumvent and abuse your parental authority to use good-hearted but misguided children as pawns to further their deceptive agenda," he added.
In response, the "Not Our Kids Coalition," of which CWA is a part, is asking parents to keep their children out of school that day if their child's school is participating. Instead, parents are asked to teach their children age-appropriate and truthful information about natural human sexuality, marriage and family at home on April 18 rather than subject them to this disruptive day of wholesale homosexual indoctrination.
Mission America maintains a list of schools known to participate in the annual "Day of Silence." Parents are encouraged to check the list to determine if their child's school is participating. They are encouraged to call the school and ask if they are allowing students to participate in the disruptive "Day of Silence."
Christian teens across the country will be countering the Wednesday event with the "Day of Truth" on April 19. Sponsored by our friends at the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), and endorsed by CWA and other like-minded organizations, participating students will speak the truth in love to fellow students without disrupting the learning environment.
Participating students are encouraged to wear specially designed T-shirts for the day and pass out cards to fellow students during non-class time that read:
I am speaking the Truth to break the silence.
Silence isn't freedom. It's a constraint.
Truth tolerates open discussion, because the Truth emerges when healthy discourse is allowed.
By proclaiming the Truth in love, hurts will be halted, hearts will be healed, and lives will be saved.
The "Day of Truth" Web site also features a talking points section to help students handle hostile questions from fellow students and school authorities.
"In the past, students who have attempted to speak against the promotion of the homosexual agenda have been censored or, in some cases, punished for their beliefs," says Michael Johnson, ADF's Senior Legal Counsel who heads the "Day of Truth" for ADF. "It is important that students stand up for their First Amendment right to hear and speak the Truth about human sexuality in order to protect that freedom for future generations. 'The Day of Truth' provides an opportunity to publicly exercise our free speech rights," Johnson added.
