Congress May Be Funding Illegal Abortions     10/25/2007

Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women for America (CWA) and 59 other organizations sent a letter yesterday to every senator and representative asking them to suspend the more than $300 million taxpayer funds Planned Parenthood receives each year. According to a 107-count complaint filed in Kansas’ Johnson County District Court last week, Planned Parenthood purposefully performed illegal late term abortions in violation of Kansas state law and unlawfully falsified documents to conceal that fact.

CWA President Wendy Wright says it is time for abortion clinics to be held accountable. “One-third of Planned Parenthood’s income comes from the government. Planned Parenthood takes our money and when accused of violating laws arrogantly insists that no one dare question them because they are doing it ‘for the women.’ Government officials have a duty to hold Planned Parenthood accountable when innocent lives die due to its skirting of regulations and laws. Our tax dollars should not go to organizations involved in illegal activities.

“This goes beyond being pro-life or pro-abortion. The rule of law applies to everyone, including abortionists.”
