An Internship at CWA? Absolutely!     10/26/2007
By Marian Ward

I first became acquainted with Concerned Women for America (CWA) in the summer of 2000 when I attended Leadership Training Institute of America's national conference in Arlington, Virginia. Wendy Wright, now CWA's President, was a featured speaker at that conference. I was very intrigued and impressed by an organization that mobilized and empowered women but was not a militant feminist organization. I found that the issues upon which this group focused were in line with what I believed as a conservative Christian woman. I have been privileged to observe the effects of organized, intelligent, God-fearing women in the arena of public policy.

Being accepted to the Ronald Reagan Memorial Internship Program at CWA was truly a joy and an honor. I can think of no better organization for a young woman to "get her feet wet" here in Washington. There is such an emphasis on CWA interns getting a true hands-on experience, rather than just another "grunt" work internship. The staff have truly tried to get to know me, my heart, and my interests and allowed me to get involved with projects about which I truly feel passionate.

While I have had the opportunity to work with several members of the CWA National staff, my intern position has been in the National Field Department under the supervision of Kenda Bartlett, National Field Director. During this time, I have had the opportunity to see the real heart and soul of the organization by getting to know many of the state and grassroots leaders from all over the country.

I would highly recommend that any young Christian conservative woman or man apply to take part in this magnificent internship program and take part in the unmatched work of Concerned Women for America as they stand on behalf of liberty and the family in the public policy arena.
