Representative for the President
POSITION CONCEPT
The purpose of the Representative for the President is to achieve CWA's financial objectives by developing, coordinating and implementing a major gift (individuals and institutions) program.
The Representative for the President reports to the Director of Development and supervises no one.
POSITION GUIDELINES
There are eight basic task responsibilities as part of this position. They are:
- Cultivate relationships with assigned major donors and council members. Be responsible to follow-up with a phone call or note for major donor/council gifts. This follow-up and cultivation will involve developing strategies and specific actions to reach pre-determined financial objectives for each major donor assigned.
- Develop major donor marketing and communication plans together with key CWA personnel and agency.
- Create major donor proposals for individuals and foundations.
- Make presentations to individuals and institutions (foundations, corporations, churches) for the purpose of securing funds for ministry.
- Be responsible for securing planned giving leads and assuring that those leads are followed up by sub-contracted technicians with an acceptable quantity of them benefiting the ministry financially.
- Report major donor program performance to Director of Development by maintaining timely communication, close working relationship and regular reports.
- Be well trained in online fundraising database programs. Must be administratively strong and maintain an informative account for each donor, which includes up-to-date giving history and notes from phone calls or important information obtained about the donor.
- Be responsible for tasks involved in donor trips such as choosing the location, scheduling the donor visits, making travel arrangements and follow up after the visit.
Skills and abilities necessary to this position are:
- Must possess strong administrative skills.
- Representative must have good communication skills in order to develop donor relationships and verbalize the ministry's needs.
- Develop plans that work and get results such as end-of-year strategies.
- Create proposals that cause transactions.
- Make presentations that are comfortable and pleasing to the listener's style and motivate that listener to make a transaction.
- Develop an assigned group of major donors/council members and cultivate them to higher financial involvement with the ministry.
- Secure planned giving leads and work with sub-contracted technicians in turning those leads into planned giving instruments that benefit the ministry.
- Accurately evaluate results of major donor program efforts through performing program analysis and suggesting alternate strategies and tactics to management.
- Manage projects/jobs, people, process deadlines, and budget while adhering to the policies and procedures of the ministry.
- Get along with peers, subordinates, and management and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. Needs to have the ability to be a team player and protect the ministry's missions, goals, and values.
