A Meeting in Jamestown 4/18/2008 By Leslie Steddenbenz Concerned Women for America (CWA) of New York held an introductory meeting recently in Jamestown, New York. Concerned Women for America (CWA) of New York held an introductory meeting on April 5, 2008, in Jamestown, New York, for interested members of the community. Nina Bell, Field Development Coordinator for CWA, organized the meeting in her former hometown in hopes of seeing CWA come to the area, which is located about 60 miles southwest of Buffalo.
Pastor Dayle Keefer and his wife Judy hosted the meeting at the Fluvanna Community Church, and 17 women from various churches attended. Rev. Keefer opened the event in prayer, and Nina shared her experiences working at CWA and how inspirational it is to be in daily contact with Prayer/Action Chapter leaders across the country. When CWA of New York State Director Anne Downey asked the ladies to give their reason for attending, several discussed the issue of parental rights in education, while others discussed pro-life issues. Everyone agreed that the churches need to become much more engaged in the cultural battle that is threatening to destroy Biblical values and harm our children and grandchildren. Anne also shared the history of CWA and the critical battles in which CWA of New York, with nearly 10,000 members, is currently engaged.
“Yesterday totally changed my life and gave me the direction I was looking for,” said one woman who attended the meeting. All who were present were greatly encouraged, but perhaps none more than Mrs. Downey, who said, “The women truly opened up their hearts and shared with tears and great passion about the issues that are so important in our state and nation. We give thanks to God for a great gathering and look forward to seeing what the Holy Spirit will do in and through the wonderful women of Jamestown. Please pray for the Jamestown group as it gets underway.”
