Defense and Restoration in Montana     4/18/2008
By Leslie Steddenbenz

CWA of Montana's “Defending and Restoring Religious Freedom,” in Missoula, Montana, was a great success.

Concerned Women for America (CWA) of Montana's April 5 conference, "Defending and Restoring Religious Freedom," in Missoula, Montana, was a great success. Over 50 concerned Montana citizens came together to learn how to protect their religious liberties from the current issues threatening them. Matt Barber, CWA's Policy Director for Cultural Issues, and Professor Robert G. Natelson from the University of Montana spoke at the event.

Matt Barber discussed threats to our national sovereignty such as the United Nation's (U.N.) Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), strategy at the U.N., and plans for a North American Union. Mr. Barber also spoke on the subject of homosexual activism and the effect it has on our culture. He stressed how important it is to fight dangerous and discriminatory legislation, such as the so-called Employment Non-Discrimination Act and "hate crimes" laws, so citizens can counteract these alarming trends.

Professor Natelson addressed the importance of selecting Supreme Court justices who will uphold the Constitution's actual text and intended meaning. Reflecting on the conference, Matt Barber said, "I was very encouraged for both the state of Montana and for our nation by the overwhelming success of the conference. The attendees were enthusiastic and highly motivated - a good combination when trying to get things done in public policy. It was a joy and an honor to have addressed such a fine crowd in such a beautiful setting."

Representing CWA of Montana were Patti Kanduch, State Director since 2005; Bonnie Zentgraf, Legislative Liaison; and Merry Nelson, Prayer Chapter Coordinator. These ladies discussed what CWA is doing locally, statewide and nationally and how to get involved in a Prayer/Action Chapter. Please pray for CWA of Montana as they gear up for the work ahead to build a network of women and like-minded men across Montana.
