Despite a law prohibiting the sale of pornographic materials on military bases, magazines like Playboy and Penthouse can still be found for sale in base exchanges worldwide. Rep. Paul Broun (R-Georgia) has introduced HR 5821, the Military Honor and Decency Act, to close that loophole in the federal law by defining pornography and requiring an annual review by the Department of Defense of the periodicals being sold by the military to its members. Rep. Broun joins Shari Rendall, CWA's Director of Legislation and Public Policy, and CWA Policy Analyst Martha Kleder in a conversation on the need for this bill and how CWA members can help pass this important legislation.
