Nina Bell, Field Development Coordinator for Concerned Women for America (CWA), visited the states of New Jersey and Connecticut to connect with CWA leaders and prospects. The trip began in Connecticut with visits with two of CWA's Prayer/Action Chapter Leaders (PAL), Tina Sweeters and her husband Jim in Watertown, Connecticut, and Madelyn Czekala, a PAL of the New Haven chapter.
Nina was the featured guest speaker for the monthly meeting of the Gospel of Life Society of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Norwalk, Connecticut. As stated on St. Mary's website, "the Society recognizes the urgency of defending life and defending marriage in today's society. It seeks to do this by prayer, offering a monthly Mass for these intentions, and by networking among people who share these same goals." These pro-life supporters have worked hard to protect the lives of the unborn in Connecticut. According to their records, they have saved approximately 1,000 babies in the process.
Nina's topic was titled, "Prayer Changes Things - The Power of One." Nina was met with spontaneous applause as she shared articles of abortion clinics that have closed across our nation because of the diligent prayers of pro-life supporters. One example was an abortion clinic that, after being the focus of 40 days of prayer and fasting by members of the community, was finally shutting its doors!
Eileen Bianchini, Chairperson of the Gospel of Life Society, sent a thank you note to Nina, stating, "Thank you, again, for speaking to our group…[they] were very impressed with the scope of CWA, the intensity of its dedication, and the wonderful emphasis on prayer life. This is what our world needs."
Nina travelled on to New Jersey to meet Natalie Fortunato and her husband Pastor Joseph Fortunato, who have organized a group of concerned parents to help establish parental control over the education of their children following a controversial sex education course. This led to the forming of Parents United for Responsible Education (PURE), otherwise known as PURE Pioneers. You can learn more about their work at www.purepioneers.org. Nina was given the opportunity to present CWA at the Sunday morning service at their church. One woman, who was a visitor that morning, wanted information about taking CWA to her home state of Kentucky.
From there, it was on to Princeton, where Nina met with Arch Davis, a friend who heads a ministry working with the fatherless and people trapped in substance abuse. Through Arch, Nina was able to make connections with others in Princeton.
The tour ended in the New Jersey home of Rosalind Tortorelli. Nina had the pleasure of connecting with the pastor of Rosalind's church, a Messianic Jewish Rabbi whose daughter is interested in starting a chapter in their area.
Reflecting on her trip, Nina says, "It is always amazing to me to visit the states and meet the 'concerned' people who have a heart for this nation. Once again, as I make my travel plans, I have the overwhelming sense that God takes over and there comes an excitement and a renewed sense of vision and mission as I meet with each person and group. To God be the glory! He is moving in the hearts of His people!"
