Join the Red Envelope Project! 3/6/2009 Share Your Love for the Unborn with President Obama By Leslie Smith A groundswell of support from pro-lifers across the United States has emerged for the "Red Envelope Project." Outraged and dismayed by President Obama's reversal of the "Mexico City Policy," and of the lack of media attention surrounding this year's hugely successful March for Life, supporters of the unborn have been desperate to have their voices heard.
The project is simple and the message poignant. Participants are asked to mail an empty red envelope to the White House with the message:
"This envelope represents one child who died in abortion. It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world. Responsibility begins with conception."
Another message is:
"Sir, you said at the National Prayer Breakfast on February 5,'There is no God who condones taking the life of an innocent human being. This much we know.' Please respect life in all your policies."
The envelopes are addressed to:
President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, D.C. 20500
This is a direct, yet respectful, approach to sharing our hearts with the current administration. If you choose to participate, please couple your efforts with prayer for the unborn, our President, and our Nation as a whole.
Organizers of the Red Envelope Project hope that we can send 50 million red envelopes to represent the number of children lost since abortion was legalized.
If you are new to the Pro-Life movement, or if your church is hesitant to get involved in "politics," this is a great way to start. Take a stand for the unborn.
"Throughout his life, President Obama has surrounded himself with people who are ardently pro-abortion. This reveals itself in his choices for his staff and presidential nominees. Here is a dramatic way to introduce a pro-life message - and the millions of people who believe it - to him," said Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America.
Please visit the Project's website www.redenvelopeproject.org to learn more about the inspiration behind the campaign and for a list of suggested envelope suppliers. You can also enter your name and the number of envelopes you send to add to the overall tally.
