Day of Silence Walk-Out is Just Around the Corner      3/27/2009

Each year the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) schedules one day where students in high schools and an increasing number of middle schools across the country are encouraged to remain silent throughout the school day, even during instructional time, to draw attention to social and political goals of homosexual activists. In response, a growing number of Christian parents have been pulling their children out of school on that day to protest the politicization of classroom time. This year, the Day of Silence and the Day of Silence Walk-Out, will be held on April 17. Laurie Higgins, Director of the Division of School Advocacy for the Illinois Family Institute, launched the Day of Silence Walk-Out and shares from her background as a public school teacher why this is an important step for parents to take when it comes to standing for truth. You can find more information on the Day of Silence Walk-Out at http://www.dayofsilencewalkout.org along with instructions on how to participate and a sample letter for you to send to your child's school. Now is the time to determine if your child's school is participating and to rally like-minded parents and encourage them to join.
