Obama Spends Tax Dollars to Demean Marriage, Appease Homosexual Activists and Encourage Fraud     6/17/2009
Extends federal benefits to partners of homosexual federal workers

Washington, D.C. – President Obama issued a memorandum today to extend benefits to partners of homosexual workers. This comes after homosexual activists ramped up criticism of the administration for not opposing the Defense of Marriage Act or restrictions on homosexuals in the military. Obama’s order also comes after several homosexual fundraisers withdrew their support from an upcoming Democratic National Committee event at which Vice President Biden is expected to speak.

“Barack Obama’s order demeans marriage and misuses taxpayer dollars. It violates the intent of the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines for the federal government that marriage (and thus all the benefits that come with marriage) is only between a man and a woman. It generates untold costs and creates an incentive for fraud. Workers could claim anyone of the same sex is a ‘partner’ or seek coverage for multiple serial partners,” stated Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America.

“It attempts to elevate relationships outside of marriage as if they are the same as marriage. Marriage provides unique benefits to individuals, families and society that cannot be replicated by any other living arrangements. Marriage helps nurture children and reduces social and financial costs to society by promoting healthy behavior. Federal funds should not be a political tool to elevate partner arrangements to be treated similar to marriage.”

“Obama’s order is an outrageous abuse by the president to benefit his supporters and quell their criticism of him.”
