Sotomayor Concerns Continue to Rise 6/30/2009 Click for more multimedia content.
Evidence of Sotomayor's personal bias and her distorted view of the Constitution and the proper role of a judge continue to be raised by a multitude of sources. Phillip Jauregui, President of the Judicial Action Group (JAG), and Nicholas Beckham, Staff Attorney with JAG, speak about the nomination of Judge Sotomayor and expose another grave concern with her judicial philosophy: the role that international law should play in our domestic courts. Judge Sotomayor wrote on a foreword to a book on international law that, "the question of how much we have to learn from foreign law and the international community when interpreting our Constitution is not the only one worth posing. As The International Judge makes clear, we should also question how much we have to learn from international courts and from their male and female judges about the process of judging and the factors outside of the law that influence our decisions" (emphasis ours). Ask your Senators to do everything in their power to make sure enough time is given to address all of our concerns with her judicial philosophy. Tell them a vote should not occur until after the August recess.
