Representative Gary Miller, (R-District 42) Town Hall Meeting, Yorba Linda, CA – August 25, 2009 10/19/2009

I attend the Town Hall Meeting of Gary Miller last Tuesday, August 25. He is good on all the conservative and pro-life points at least verbally. He speaks out against health care for illegal aliens.

My only annoyance was the stealth nature of the meeting. Constituents had to actually phone to find out about it. Even with those constraints the meeting was booked out days if not weeks in advance. There were 500 there on the night of the meeting. But there were people checking identification at the door, and security was noticeably present.

It was like the other Town Hall Meetings I attended with Rep. Ed Royce. People were strongly opposed to the health care bill, and there were many conservative activists present. The clearest and strongest opposition to the abortion mandate came from an older man who identified himself as a Democrat (amid cheers). There were five or six CWA members there and a husband or two.

I have been to three Town Hall type meetings with Ed Royce and this one with Miller. I actually spoke at this one. The moral issues had been covered in ringing tones so I mentioned the economic issue of the government using all the capital in the system leaving insufficient capital for businesses to maintain the economy.

I also questioned Ed Royce more directly at one of the events and find him reassuringly pro-life and energetic for conservative values and anti-illegal immigration. I am very impressed with him.
