The West Virginia State Department of Education’s proposed hate crime policy 2421, which would mandate protection of students based on “sexual orientation,” is the latest attempt to force acceptance of homosexuality by law.
All citizens of West Virginia should oppose it.
West Virginians are rightly concerned about bullying in the schools. But homosexual activists are using “hate crime” curricula to normalize homosexuality. Schools can teach civility toward all without teaching that homosexuality must be accepted as normal and healthy.
Homosexual activists are using the bullying issue to intimidate people who otherwise know that homosexuality is unhealthy and immoral behavior. They contend that religious groups that oppose their agenda actually favor bullying or are indifferent to violence and harassment. That is a lie!
In fact, in the current pro-homosexual environment, the only people willing to tell students the health and lifesaving facts about the dangers of homosexuality are Christians and people of faith. Steering kids away from homosexuality is compassionate; promoting it under the guise of “fighting hate” is tragic and cruel.
It’s time to eliminate all references to “sexual orientation” in state statutes and school policies. This term is deliberately vague. The psychiatric literature lists more than 20 sexual orientations, many of which are patently perverse and dangerous.
Some citizens believe the term refers to a fixed group called “homosexuals.” No such group exists; there is only homosexual behavior. How else do we explain the existence of so many “ex-gays,” or the fact that the vast majority of “lesbians” have also had sex with many male partners?
Anti-discrimination laws that include “sexual orientation” are being used as a club against any group upholding traditional values. Groups wielding laws and policies that contain the term are openly harassing the Boy Scouts.
Most Americans, when given a fair presentation of both sides, see homosexuality for what it is: destructive, immoral behavior that hurts individuals, families and communities.
“Sexual orientation” theory presented to children is a blatant attempt to persuade those who are sexually confused to try the homosexual lifestyle. Recent events in Massachusetts show how far the homosexual movement has come in its effort to recruit children into deviant behavior.
In May 2000, the Massachusetts Department of Education and Health and the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network had a conference for homosexual educators. Students were present. One of the workshops was titled, “What They Didn’t Tell You about Queer Sex & Sexuality in Health Class: A Workshop for Youth Only, Ages 14-21.”
A parent taped the workshop in which two lesbians and one homosexual man (all HIV instructors with the state) taught children how to engage in “fisting,” the profoundly dangerous practice of inserting a fist and arm up the anus. Ask any doctor how dangerous this is.
As if the homosexual education agenda were not bad enough, some homosexual groups are lobbying to lower or abolish “age of consent” laws. These laws set a minimum age below which an adult is prohibited from having sex with a child. In virtually all cases around the world, mainstream “gay” organizations are leading this effort.
With the “coming out” age of openly declared “gays” falling into the low teens, parents should be alarmed at the push by homosexual militants for aggressive recruitment.
Under the rubric of “safety,” “tolerance” and “eliminating homophobia,” homosexuality is being normalized in our nation’s schools.
Such programs are now reaching even into the elementary level, where children have a hard time distinguishing between “tolerance” and “acceptance.” In older grade levels, “gay-straight” alliances are being formed to recruit sexually confused kids. Often members are steered toward off-campus activities with older homosexuals.
Child molestation is on the rise. Homosexuals account for less than 2 percent of the population, but one-third to one-half of all molestations involve homosexual activity. It is clear that homosexuals as a group pose a threat to children.
This is not to say that all homosexuals are child molesters, just that a disproportionate amount of molestation is homosexual in nature.
Isn’t it time we realize the danger and protect our children? Professed homosexuals should not be allowed to teach or lead groups of youth. And homosexual propaganda should not enter schools under the guise of “hate crime” prevention.
The “hate crimes” curriculum is a tool used by homosexual activists to advance their agenda of recruiting children. The West Virginia Department of Education should not be implementing such a policy.
