Writer Applauds Pastor Who Stands Up to ‘Gay’ Thought Police in Canada 2/5/2003 By Robert A. Jason Pastor gets harassed for writing letter to editor This article was written by Canadian freelancer and pro-family advocate Robert A. Jason of Fonthill, Ontario. Jason applauds the Rev. Stephen Boissoin, an Alberta pastor who has been the target of a “human rights” complaint by a homosexual activist professor for writing a letter critical of homosexuality to the local newspaper. Also note the response of Ralph Ovadal of Wisconsin Christians United (WCU), who tells why he rejected a "gay" professor's request for a tape of the interview WCU did with Rev. Boissoin.

Dear Friends:
I dearly wish we had more gutsy Canadians — or gutsy Canadian pastors, for that matter — like the Rev. Stephen Boissoin. You may recall I had sent out to you a plea sometime ago to help our Christian brother Boissoin in need — and you came through mightily. Pastor Stephen is being persecuted by a Calgary university professor, Dr. Darren Lund, for the heinous crime of writing a letter to the editor opposing the promotion of homosexuality. Dr. Lund is also a prominent, militant activist for an endless array of “gay rights” and is hounding Pastor Boissoin for writing a letter to the Red Deer Advocate (central Alberta’s major daily paper) protesting “the homosexual machine that has been mercilessly gaining ground in our society since the 1960s.”
Remember, this is Canada. Anyone daring to exercise his constitutional rights of free speech and express his views on homosexuality may be deemed a “hate-monger” and a criminal and hauled before the nearest “Human Rights Commission.” (It is only a matter of time before he will be sent to an insane asylum, as in totalitarian states).
Stephen Boissoin is a Canadian Evangelical Christian Church minister who has ministered to troubled youth for a decade. He wrote: “My banner has now been raised and war has been declared. Your teenagers are being instructed on how to perform so-called safe same-gender oral and anal sex by perverse, self-centered and morally depraved individuals who are spreading their psychological disease into every area of our lives.”
Darren Lund, former Red Deer high school teacher and current assistant professor of education at the University of Calgary, filed a human rights complaint with the Alberta government against Boissoin.
Boissoin’s enemies resorted to typical dirty tricks when his Web site was destroyed and replaced by a page featuring his own photo and the words, “Pastor Looking for Sexual Adventures.”
Shortly before Christmas, Boissoin hired Calgary lawyer Gerald Chipeur to handle the human rights complaint and to commence a lawsuit against Lund.
When asked for the reasons for his lawsuit, Boissoin replied, "By standing up for my legal rights as a Christian and an ordained minister, my goal is to do my part to inhibit Lund and all other anti-Christian activists from slandering and falsely labeling Christians who are obeying their God-given call to share the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ and the whole teachings of this Gospel.
"Furthermore, by taking a stand against the onslaught that is trying to destroy fundamental Christianity, I hope to leave a legacy of passionate and proactive faithfulness to God for my children and do my small part towards Canada once again becoming a God-fearing nation."
The Canadian Evangelical Christian Church is a medium-sized denomination with headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario, and has member churches in most provinces across Canada. "The CECC has made its position on this matter clear," Boissoin says. "It stands on the Word of God and I have been blessed by its continued support and encouragement.
"My lawsuit is a part of the war against evil," Boissoin claims. "I intentionally used the term 'war' in my letter to declare that I am no longer going to wallow in fear, apathy and political correctness but I'm declaring that I am going to do my part to actively defend my faith, share truth with passion and love regardless of the outcome, and while doing so, encourage others to stand with me.
"Doing any less," the pastor says, "would be a disservice to my brothers and sisters in Christ, my fellow countrymen and, most important, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who has called me to sacrifice all, take up my cross and follow Him."
Bravo. I dearly wish we had more gutsy Canadians and more gutsy Christians like the Rev Boissoin. We wouldn't be in the mess we are in now in this pathetically wimpy and gutless country.
Ovadal won’t aid thought police
Wait a minute! I'm not done yet. There is another gutsy Christian I applaud - and he is an American, which is no surprise. He is the Rev. Ralph Ovadal. He hosts a popular Christian radio show in Wisconsin called The Heart Of The Matter. Pastor Ovadal interviewed Boissoin on his show. Dr. Lund heard of the interview and demanded a transcript of the show. The following is the highly interesting reply of the brave Pastor Ovadal:

The following is the text of the letter by the Rev. Ralph Ovadal, Director of Wisconsin Christians United, based in Monroe, Wisconsin, in response to a request by “gay” activist professor Dr. Darren Lund for a tape of the WCU radio program Heart of the Matter featuring an interview with the Rev. Stephen Boissoin.

Dear Professor Lund,
It has come to my attention that you have requested a cassette copy of a certain Heart of the Matter program, specifically an interview I did with Pastor Steve Boissoin on December 3, 2002. I am turning down that request and returning your money to you.
Here at The Heart of the Matter, we reserve the right to refuse to provide copies of our programs to anyone who would use them for immoral or illegal purposes. Since it is clear to us that you intend to use that particular program against a Christian brother of ours whom you are already persecuting, we will not send you the program. It is immoral and illegal according to God's eternal law to promote homosexual acts (see enclosed brochure [What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality, available at WCU's Web site]. It is also immoral and illegal according to those same laws to attack a Christian because he has publicly stood up for what is right in God's eyes. Consider for instance Proverbs 17:15: "He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD."
Sir, I would urge you to repent of your rebellion against God and put your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation, or you will most surely spend eternity in the agony of hell. Meanwhile, please be advised that The Heart of the Matter is an American program and, as such, we do not live under the tyranny of your Canadian "Human Rights Commissions" but rather under the real liberty of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence upon which it is predicated. In short, your arrogance and bullying do not impress us in the least. May the Lord open your eyes to the eternal peril in which you stand as well as the deliverance, salvation, and peace available through faith in Jesus Christ.
With hope for your repentance and salvation,
Pastor Ralph Ovadal
