Oh, Canada! Ontario Court’s Order
Creating “Gay Marriage” Is Oppressive, CWA’s Rios Says
     6/10/2003

Washington, D.C. – “The Ontario high court’s order today legalizing homosexual so-called marriage will lead to oppression against Canadians who believe in real marriage,” said Sandy Rios, president of Concerned Women for America.

“If you’re a Jew, a Christian or a Muslim, your beliefs are under direct attack in Canada right now,” Rios said. “This puts a true understanding of marriage on the wrong side of the law. Businesses will be ordered to accommodate the counterfeit as if it were the real thing, regardless of the beliefs of business owners. And more children will face being placed in homosexual households if this ruling stands.”

“They can call it whatever they want, but it’s not marriage,” said Robert Knight, director of CWA’s Culture and Family Institute. “A wedding requires a man and a woman. To mandate marital recognition for non-marital relationships is to create a lie that will ensure coercion against people who stand for the truth. God created marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and no court can alter that.”

“We call on Canadians to clean their judicial house if necessary to overturn this oppressive dictate,” Knight said. “Canada’s legislators need to move to protect society’s most vital institution.”
