Concerned Women for America (CWA) joins the nation in mourning the loss of Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States. Beverly LaHaye, founder and chairman of Concerned Women for America, issued the followed statement:

“President Reagan was a great leader who was bold enough to call things what they were. He launched his service as president with bold words and bold plans. His presidency began with an intimidated Iranian tyrant freeing America’s hostages. He intimidated communist tyrants with bold words, calling the Soviet Union precisely what it was: an evil empire. He challenged Soviet henchmen to ‘tear down this wall,’ and soon they did just that. The Berlin Wall, an ugly symbol of trapped and enslaved peoples, is no more. Thanks to Reagan’s leadership, millions have been freed from communism.

“The freedom that so many millions now enjoy is an enduring tribute to a man God greatly used at a unique time in American history.

“We at CWA began our own journey 25 years ago – in 1979 – just as the Reagan Era began. What an honor it was to work with President Reagan throughout his two terms. In 1987, the president addressed our fourth national convention. We had just moved from California to Washington, D.C., in 1985. Ronald Reagan welcomed CWA to Washington with words I’ll never forget: ‘It's wonderful to see you all here. It makes me feel as if the reinforcements have just arrived!’ Today our office proudly displays those words in a tribute to President Reagan in our Reception area.

“The nation rightfully mourns the passing of a great man who God raised up at a critical time in history. We pray for Nancy and all the president’s family in their sorrow.”

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. John 11:25
