Here Comes ‘Sadism Rights’: S&M Group Targets CWA
Group Plans to Phone—and Web-Zap CWA Offices
By

A radical sex group that defends sado-masochism, “swingers” (wife-swappers), multiple-partner sexual relationships and sex clubs has targeted Concerned Women for America (CWA) for protest, Web sabotage and possibly harassing lawsuits.

The National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) is furious at CWA for exposing raunchy S&M celebrations at hotels across the country. It is asking its followers to barrage CWA with phone calls on July 8 and jam up the pro-family group’s Web site on July 15.

NCSF calls itself a “sexual freedom” group, but its main business is defending sadomasochism, which includes some of the most reckless and dangerous practices in the entire “sexual liberation” movement.

“Consensual” master-slave relationships (the “master” treats his willing “partner” like a slave). “Electrotorture.” Whipping and bondage. “Knife play.” “Fisting.” “Consensual” humiliation and degradation as a form of sex “play.” These and more are staples of the bizarre “leather” world that is practiced by heterosexuals but (like pedophilia) is disproportionately popular among homosexuals.

Activists with the NCSF, with its headquarters just off K Street in downtown Washington, D.C., are crisscrossing the country, meeting with police departments to “educate” them on why they should not make arrests at violent, sadomasochistic “play parties” — often held in basement “dungeons” — because the activity is “consensual.”

NCSF now works closely with leading homosexual and “transgender” groups including the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) — which is helping it craft a winning media message — the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and GenderPAC. NCSF hopes to piggyback on the success of the “gay rights” movement to mainstream S&M and other perversions, or at least the “right” to engage in them.

USES ‘FREEDOM’ RHETORIC
Like the pornographers that it defends, the NCSF uses all-American language to promote its cause.

Just as pornographers use the First Amendment to defend the sale of porn, NCSF hopes to expand the realm of “free speech” to other “sexual areas,” including “sex enterprises, sexual-purpose clubs and educational and social groups.” If they succeed, it would limit the ability of citizens to keep sex clubs catering to sadomasochists, “swingers’” or other perversions out of their neighborhood and away from their children.

According to its Web site, NCSF describes itself as:

a national organization committed to protecting freedom of expression among consenting adults. Based in Washington, D.C., NCSF works through legal initiatives, lobbying, outreach, and education to promote greater understanding of sexuality and human rights. Founded in 1997, NCSF mobilizes diverse grassroots communities to help change antiquated and unfair sex laws, and to protect free speech and advance privacy rights. NCSF is dedicated to ensuring that all consenting adults can express their sexuality freely and openly, without fear.

Among its constituencies, NCSF lists sadomasochists, “transgenders,” transsexuals, intersex (people born with atypical sexual anatomies), “swingers” (e.g., married couples who exchange spouses at sex parties), and “polyamorists” (people who engage in multiple, simultaneous sexual relationships).

PHONE—AND WEB-ZAPPING CWA
In response to the role of CWA activists like Kathy Valente in Illinois in exposing recent sadistic events held at hotels in Chicago, St. Louis and Oklahoma City, NCSF has begun “a new initiative that provides support to sexual minority groups under attack by radical right wing groups.”

According to a February 14 press release, “NCSF launched its new program to counter campaigns underway across the country by organizations such as [CWA] and the American Family Association that defame legitimate, law-abiding sexual minority groups.” NCSF pledged to advise groups “on how to obtain injunctions and even money damages when right-wing organizations interfere in their legal and private educational conferences and events.”

Under the program, NCSF also said it would counsel groups “on how to sue for defamation. … The new initiative is part of NCSF’s efforts to use the law and the courts to advance issues of sex and sexuality, free speech and privacy rights.”

In the press release, Wright says, “These radical fringe groups [pro-family advocates] have used scare tactics and false statements of facts to try to compel local businesses and authorities to close down constitutionally-protected educational and informational assemblies on the ground that what is being taught does not adhere to their view of morally desirable behavior. That is simply not acceptable in America.”

DIRECT HARASSMENT
An NCSF e-mail obtained by C&F Report exposes a more sinister side of the group’s strategy:

The CWA has used our web sites and e-groups as well as their own to spread misinformation about the BDSM [bondage, discipline, sadism, masochism] lifestyle. So, one day without their site would at least get the stench off the Internet.

At 12:01 am Eastern Daylight Savings time on Monday July 15, 2002 log on to the CWA site at www.cwfa.org and stay logged on all day. If you should attempt to log on and you get a “Server Busy” error message, we have succeeded!

The plan also calls for NCSF activists to jam CWA’s phone lines by calling the national headquarters on July 8 and asking “to speak to someone about their [CWA’s] stance on alternative lifestyles.” The notice advises that “absolutely NO threats of violence are to be made. This is a peaceful protest.”

NCSF also will be sending CWA regular mail letters “to show them our numbers and that we will not stand by while this small group of fanatics attack us.” The e-mail message advises followers to “send anonymous letters to CWA headquarters. The goal is to send one million letters to the national headquarters in Washington, D.C. with postmarks from EVERYWHERE on the SAME DAY, JUNE 27, 2002!”

A million letters may be a tall order for NCSF. The group is small and poor relative to larger “gay” organizations. One e-mail message stated that NCSF staffers are using personal funds to pay for plane trips to carry out NCSF business.

NCSF AGENDA: ELIMINATE ‘ANTIQUATED’ AND ‘PURITANICAL’ SEX LAWS
A paper presented by NSCF executive director Judy Guerin at the 2001 Bi-annual World Congress of Sexology in Paris, France outlines her group’s radical aims. In “The Politics of Sexuality: The United States Experience,” Guerin writes: “The current ‘normalization strategy’ of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender movement in place since the 1980s has limited further usefulness. … the public is ready for a more candid, ‘we are different and that is fine’ theme. The emphasis can now be shifted to sexual behaviors such as SM, swinging, sodomy, pornography, sex clubs and sex businesses.”

Guerin listed the following as among her goals:

  • “Eliminating statutes and government regulations that deprive sexual minorities of the right to choose their sexual partners inside or outside of marriage, raise children, and to engage in certain types of sex (e.g., sodomy);
  • “Including sexual minorities — not just gays and lesbians, but those who are gender variant or practice alternative forms of sexual expression such as SM or swinging — in sexual freedom advocacy;
  • “Extending principles of freedom of speech and association to sexual areas — pornography, sex enterprises, sexual-purpose clubs and educational and social groups;
  • “Changing the attitudes of police and other regulatory authorities, health care professionals, psychiatrists and other mental health professionals.”

To achieve those goals, Guerin said NCSF “has had success in the following areas”:

  • “A successful national law enforcement outreach program to familiarize police, prosecutors and other regulatory officials about the differences between SM and abuse, and to teach SM practitioners and SM educational groups how to work with local officials effectively;
  • “A media and entertainment industry outreach program that focuses on positive depictions and treatment of various forms of alternative sexual expression such as SM or swinging [wife—and husband-swapping]…mainstream educational channels, such as the Public Broadcast System and the Learning Channel, are starting to seek to include more information on various forms of consensual alternative sexual expression, such as SM and swinging, as well as to feature the discrimination and persecution faced by these individuals because of their practice of SM or swinging.
  • “Changing local regulations and enforcement policies [to benefit S&M practitioners]…
  • “Helping oppose unjust criminal prosecution of [S&M-practicing] individuals and group events.
  • “Initiating proactive legal and legislative action designed to further sexual freedom issues” including “planning a major federal lawsuit as a pre-emptive strike against the religious right.”

KLEDER RESPONDS
, policy analyst with the Culture and Family Institute, said, “NCSF is nowhere near being a mainstream organization, and they know it. On their own Web sites, S&M activists admit that their activities, if known, could cause them to lose custody of their children.”

“Homosexual activists have always been the largest supporters of, and the driving force behind, S&M perversion among heterosexuals,” Kleder said. “That is because normal, healthy, monogamous, heterosexual, marital relations are the biggest threat to their ultimate acceptance.”

“Once the unspeakable is openly promoted as a valid choice for heterosexuals, then the perversions of homosexual and related behaviors will seem less shocking to the public at large,” she added. “We should have expected something like NSCF to follow on the heels of the success of the homosexual lobby.”
