Video-on-demand technology is already providing viewer flexibility, yet the industry refuses to allow customers to choose and pay for their regular viewing selections independently. “Customers are tired of allowing cable operators to get away with functioning as a monopoly in the communities they serve, and forcing consumers to subsidize programming that is obscene, violent and immoral,” says CWA director of government relations Lanier Swann.
