Feminist Movement on Fast Forward     12/26/1997

Almost 20 years ago, Beverly LaHaye founded Concerned Women for America because she saw that feminism was destroying marriages, children, families and ultimately, our very culture. Through our nationally syndicated radio program, our monthly magazine, and regular updates to our membership on the critical issues that are impacting our families, concerned women are given the tools to make a difference all across our country. But the battle for our family continues and the enemy is becoming more aggressive in their efforts to destroy the very foundation that has made America great.

Now, with the backing of the Clinton administration, the feminist movement has been put on fast forward. I'm sure you remember the United Nations Beijing Conference on Women in 1995. Delegates—including Hillary Clinton—gathered from around the world to discuss 'women's issues' and to write a “Declaration and Platform for Action”. This document uses deceptive and subtle verbiage to describe their agenda in terms that would be readily acceptable to unknowing countries and individuals.

But, Beverly LaHaye and a team from our CWA staff were present at the Beijing conference. Our team saw and heard first hand the truth behind the facade of 'women's rights'. The 'Declaration and Platform for Action' would in fact, guarantee women the right to abort their babies for any reason. It would give homosexuals special civil rights protections and would make certain that schoolchildren receive comprehensive sex education, including access to birth control. Most concerning is that the rights of parents to raise their children, according to their own beliefs, would be eliminated.

Of course, the Beijing 'Declaration and Platform for Action' is just words on paper if countries don't choose to implement it. Unfortunately, through executive orders and agreements, and Presidential appointments of men and women whose main focus is the Beijing agenda, the United States is leading the way in its implementation.

At the same time, feminists are using UN conferences to force their agenda on other nations. In fact our CWA team witnessed United States delegates threatening to end US aid to smaller countries if they didn't go along with the pro-feminist UN agenda.

In recent months, three UN meetings have been held to accelerate the implementation of the Beijing agenda. The first held in October in Ethiopia dealt with ways to make abortion available to teenagers, regardless of parents who might object. The second meeting held in Canada in November concerned women refugees and their 'need' for abortions and emergency contraception. The third conference held this month in Finland advanced the idea that 'women's rights are human rights“. In other words, the 'right' of a woman to abort her baby could be elevated to a fundamental human right protected by international agreement.
