Common Core victory in Georgia! Next step

Common Core victory in Georgia! Next step

SB 167, the pro-student, pro-parent, pro-taxpayer Common Core bill cleared a major hurdle today and was voted unanimously out of the Senate and Youth Education Committee. The committee room was packed full of supporters who listened to Sen. William Ligon (R-Brunswick) present the bill to the committee.

Sen. Lindsey Tippins, committee chairman, allowed for testimony in favor of and in opposition to the bill. In addition, Rep. Brooks Coleman and Rep. Mike Dudgeon, Chair and Vice Chair of the House Education Committee respectively, stepped in the committee room and voiced their support for the bill and said they looked forward to seeing passed it out of their committee. Listen to their commitment to work with the SB 167 in the House Education Committee.

Next step: SB 167 will go to the Senate Rules Committee and then on to the full Senate. A vote on the floor of the Senate is expected February 24, 25 or 26.

Action item: Contact your state senator TODAY and urge him or her to vote in favor of SB 167 when it comes to the floor of the Senate. Click here to find your state senator. Important- this is your state senator, not Sen. Isakson or Sen. Chambliss.

Praise! The passage of SB 167 out of committee today was the handwork of the Lord.  Psalm 107:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
