Families Speak Out in Support of Our Troops



While the media focuses on the views of a few who have lost their spouses or children in the war on terror, there is a much larger band that is being ignored. Merrilee Carlson is the mother of Michael, a young man who paid the ultimate sacrifice for his nation and the freedom and liberty of those in Iraq. Merrilee, who now chairs the group Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission, says her son, affectionately known as “Shrek,” was called to this mission of liberation. She is working to continue his mission by joining with other gold and blue star mothers in supporting the efforts of our military.
