Broadcast TV "Family Hour" Getting Filthier

The first hour or prime time, what used to be called the "family hour" is no longer a safe haven for family viewing. In fact, a recent study by the Parents Television Council, the organization's 6th study of broadcast programming in the family hour, is growing worse. The study notes that children watching broadcast television during the 8 o'clock hour are "assaulted by violence, profanity or sexual content once every 3.5 minutes of non-commercial time." Melissa Henson, Senior Director of Programs for the Parents Television Council, discusses the study, the industry's reaction to it, and the best solution for protecting children - cable choice.
