OB-GYNs Could Lose Right of Conscience on Abortion
![]() |
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has released an ethics statement mandating all OB-GYNs to either perform or refer patients for abortions. The statement went on to say that physicians should not express their faith-based ethical views to their patients and that they should relocate their practices closer to abortion clinics to make referrals more convenient. This statement has been vigorously protested by the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and several members of Congress. Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt has also weighed in representing the Bush administration. CMA Senior Vice President and Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Gene Rudd discusses this disastrous statement by ACOG as well as it's impact on licensing and a physician's practice as well as the right of conscience of all professions.
