Obama Chooses Controversial Inauguration Pastors

The choice of Rev. Rick Warren to give the Inauguration invocation raised the hackles of many Obama supporters, due to Warren's support for traditional marriage. There are three other pastors invited to participate in other inaugural events, and while they have not received as much press attention as Warren, they are just as polarizing. Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs with both Liberty Alliance Action and Liberty Counsel and Associate Dean with the Liberty University School of Law, says Obama's choices seem to contradict his talk of inclusiveness. The pastors chosen to participate in Inaugural events include Rev. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in , Rev. Gene Robinson, openly homosexual Episcopalian Bishop, Rev Joseph Lowery, of the United Methodist denomination, a long-time supporter of liberation theology including the embrace of the Sandinistas in Nicaragua and Yasir Arafat, and Rev. Sharon Watkins, Leader of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination, who also serves as an officer of the World Council of Churches and Jim Wallis' Sojourners. Listen | Download
