More Christian than African-American

Author Kimberly Cash Tate explores her journey of self-perception and identification. As a young black woman, Tate says that, "For twenty-seven years I lived, moved, and had my being in blackness." After earning a law degree from George Washington University, her job search sent her out of her comfort zone of the Washington, D.C. region to Madison, Wisconsin. There she found Christ and entered a time of growth as a Christian that challenged her self-perception as a young black woman and replaced it with an identity of being a young Christian woman. Her book, More Christian than African-American, has been re-released after 10 years during a time when political events are causing other young Christians of color to examine their priorities.
