Hounddog is Both a National and State Issue



By the production and release of the movie Hounddog, the Hollywood community has essentially issued a challenge to the nation; will we or will we not protect children? One of the prime movers behind the nation's response to this challenge is CWA's own Donna Miller, a prayer and action chapter leader in the Fayetteville, North Carolina area. By organizing the members of CWA of North Carolina in protest of this movie, which was filmed in her state, she has taken on theater chains, DVD retailers, and now the lawmakers of North Carolina. CWA Policy Analyst Martha Kleder spoke with Donna about the film's impact on efforts to put in place common-sense child labor standards that take into consideration the state's thriving film-making industry, as well as the responsible use of North Carolina taxpayer's money.
