Violence Against Women Increasing on Television

The Parents Television Council notes a rapidly growing trend of violence against women on television. Their new report, Women in Peril: A Look at TV's Disturbing New Storyline Trend, studied the rise in fatal and non-fatal violence against women and teenage girls, in comedies as well as crime dramas. Given the proven influence violent media has on children along with the damaging effects of combining violence with arousing imagery - also prevalent on prime time television -- this study points to a serious issue in the culture war. We bring you the teleconference held this week releasing the study. This information is a vital tool for those seeking to clean up broadcast TV by contacting broadcasters and advertisers.
