
Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign is Underway

Red kettles have sprouted and shoppers are now hearing the familiar ring of the Salvation Army's bell. Major George Hood, National Community Relations and Development Secretary for the Salvation Army, says this year's campaign got an early start as local divisions experienced increased demand for services as the economy struggled. This year, he adds, many of the ministry's former donors have now become clients. Still, the Salvation Army is reaching out in new ways, using the Internet, social networking sites, iPhone applications, as well as credit/debit card readers at a growing number of kettle locations.
