Will FDA Mislead Women About New Abortion Drug
![]() |
Abortion advocates are pushing the Food and Drug Administration to approve a new drug under a controversial strategy -not letting women know that it can cause an abortion. An FDA advisory panel supported the drug ulipristal, or Ella, which is similar to RU-486. The European Medicines Agency admitted that "Extremely limited data are available on the health of the foetus/new-born in case a pregnancy is exposed to ulipristal acetate." It also noted, "The safety for a human embryo is unknown." Yet the FDA panel recommended that the FDA not require a pregnancy test before women take Ella.
CWA President Wendy Wright (Listen | Download) and American Association of Pro-Life Ob/Gyns' Dr. Donna Harrison (Listen | Download) testified before the panel.
