
"Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Repeal Efforts Fall Short

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) insisted on taking the vote to consider the legislation that would have repealed the "don't ask, don't tell" policy barring openly homosexual men and women from serving in the armed forces. The vote failed 57-40.
