
Supporting DOMA in the Defense Authorization

The U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee has just passed the Defense Authorization bill, including three amendments dealing with the pending reversal of the ban on open homosexuals serving in the military. Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-Missouri) proposed one amendment to the bill that would reaffirm Congress' intent to maintain the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and reaffirm's DOMA's application to the Department of Defense.
