Planned Parenthood, widely viewed as the nation’s leading provider of women’s health and contraception services, supposedly targets their congressional funds (a record $363 million from government grants and other taxpayer funds in 2008-2009) for “reproductive health care.” It’s a carefully cultivated, albeit perfidiously disingenuous, public relations campaign that hides the fact that it is the nation’s largest surgical abortion provider, performing over 324,000 abortions from 2008-2009. Planned Parenthood claims that no federal money goes for abortions. Such claims are more than a bit disingenuous; while that statement is technically true, it hides the reality of gaping loopholes. The claim is nothing more than a bookkeeping allocation – federal funds applied to overhead costs, etc., free up other money to enable them to profit from the abortions that they perform.
“[W]e’re giving [Planned Parenthood] approximately $42,000 an hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. This is a cash cow for [Planned Parenthood]; they’re lined up at the federal trough.” – Mark Crutcher, Life Dynamics
