CWA Launches Multi-Million Dollar Ad Buy Highlighting Side Effects of Government-Run Health Care

Washington D.C. – As the country awaits the Supreme Court decision on government-mandated health care, Concerned Women for America (CWA) President and CEO Penny Nance announced today the launch of a six-state, six-million dollar advertising buy which highlights the consequences of President Obama’s health care plan. The 60-second ad, entitled “Care” features a doctor giving a first-hand account of the devastating effects of government-mandated health care including delayed care, denied care, and skyrocketing costs.

“Our members are highly energized on the aspects of the President’s health care law; we are making a significant financial investment on this issue because we mean business,” Nance said. “As the Supreme Court decides the fate of government-mandated health care, we must continue to seek real reform, not President Obama’s plan which costs hardworking taxpayers too much money and gives Washington too much control over our personal health decisions.”

The $6 million dollar ad buy will begin airing Wednesday, June 20 and run nationally on cable, social media, and in six key states, including:

  • Iowa
  • Minnesota
  • New Hampshire
  • New Mexico
  • Virginia
  • Wisconsin

This is the first presidential ad to run in Minnesota the general election cycle.

“We know the health care issue resonates with people across the country and it’s important for them to know the truth about the President’s health care law,” Nance said. “President Obama promised Americans they would be able to keep their coverage and their doctor, but that promise has been broken.”

The following is text of the “Care” ad:

“As a doctor, I do everything I can to make sure my patients get the very best care. But look at our health care system.

Everyone agreed we needed reforms — but this new health care law — it just isn’t fixing things.

President Obama promised my patients that they could keep me — but what if because of this new health care law — I can’t keep them?

I’ve looked at this law. I know the consequences: delayed care and worse yet — denied care.Studies show the president’s health care law is projected to add hundreds of billions to our deficit — and increase spending by more than a trillion dollars.

And the truth is — we still don’t know how much this law will eventually cost.

I don’t want anything to come between my patients and me — especially Washington bureaucrats.

We need real reform that improves care, and the President’s health care law just isn’t it.

It just isn’t worth it. This is where health care decisions should be made. Not in Washington.”
