How did you learn about CWA?
Through my dear friend Alice Click (West Virginia State Director). Alice and I became acquainted through an effort to organize more than 100 churches in our area to establish a pro-life organization. Together we formed the Mason County Right to Life. I joined CWA because it is dedicated to doing something about the moral decay in this country.
What are your duties as a Home Team Captain?
As a HTC, I [represent] CWA at meetings, press conferences, county fairs and tri-county parades. I am [also] a prayer and action leader. My personal prayer foundation begins with two Scriptures: James 1:5 (seeking wisdom and knowledge) and Psalm 32:8 (requesting guidance and direction). The action plan is to educate voters on the issues, contact churches and pastors, distribute information and legislative alerts, and encourage Christians to vote. Alice keeps me informed on current issues that [aim to destroy] family values.
What is God doing in your life at the present time?
After 12 years as a home-schooling mom, doors opened for me to become a child care specialist in a day care center. I am greatly concerned about the anti-God/anti-Christian movement that is sweeping across this nation and stripping us of our rights. The staff where I work [is] not allowed to initiate a prayer directed to God or [sing] Biblical songs [with the children]. We have been asked to use only non-Christian material to teach.
What do you feel is your major responsibility as a child-care provider?
My responsibility is to provide a safe, stable and loving environment for these little lives. I see a great need for Christian day care, an institution that [gives] liberty to instill godly principles. One-half of all preschool children receive care by someone other than a parent. I ache for mothers who have no choice but to place their children in day care.
CWA of West Virginia has many opportunities for you to make a difference! Find out about opportunities in our other state organizations.
