On the Passing of Our Friend, Michael Schwartz

On the Passing of Our Friend, Michael Schwartz

m_schwartz020513.jpgConcerned Women for America (CWA) staff were saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Schwartz, a legendary man who formerly served as Concerned Women for America’s Vice President for Government Relations:

“Michael Schwartz was a stalwart activist,” said Penny Nance, CEO and President of Concerned Women for America. “As a political strategist, Michael brought more than two decades of pro-family experience to his position at CWA. He tirelessly fought the good fight to protect the unborn, and his efforts at CWA gained him a reputation as a leading advocate for the sanctity of life, parental rights, and religious freedom.

“Michael was a scholar and a man among men. A prolific writer, he authored several books, and during at least three different periods in his life, he wrote and syndicated a weekly newspaper column. He also wrote hundreds of articles on a wide range of topics, and his work appeared in publications like National Review, Citizen Magazine, Columbia and America. He made hundreds of appearances on radio and TV, interviewed by the likes of Larry King, Phil Donahue, Barbara Walters, Art Linkletter, Geraldo Rivera, and Sally Jessy Raphael, and he appeared regularly as a political commentator on CNN, MSNBC and FOX News. He also hosted Capitol Watch from 1995 to 1998.

“And yet, with all those things going on, Michael was a friendly soul who would gladly spend time speaking with, and teaching, the next generation. Those of us who worked with him at CWA remember him fondly, and we’ll miss him greatly. Michael is now with the Lord he served, Who loves him even more than we do, and we’re sure Heaven is ringing with the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’”

“Michael Schwartz was a wonderful colleague,” said Dr. Janice Shaw Crouse of CWA’s Beverly LaHaye Institute. “He was thoughtful, considerate, and helpful – an excellent teammate. But what stood out was Mike’s Christian consistency. He was a man of faith who lived out his faith in his personal life and in the workplace. He was pro-life to his core, with unwavering commitment to the cause. He was also a savvy strategist who understood public policy, how things work on the Hill, and how to get things done in D.C. He was a gentleman of the old school who was considerate and thoughtful, while firm in his beliefs and values. Mike was a friend, and he will be sorely missed. How sad that such a life was cut short, but my, what a flame across the sky his influence has been!”

Mario Diaz, Esq., CWA’s Legal Counsel, said, “Michael is a big reason why I am here in the nation’s capital working for the family and life. His commitment to the cause was inspiring and his influence will be felt for years to come. He was a man of character and integrity. And he was a delight to be around. We will remember him with great joy.”
