Dear Friend, The forces attempting to remove any mention of God from the public square are hard at work. As you may know, a federal judge in California recently ruled that the phrase “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. Any day now, the ultra-liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals – based in San Francisco – is expected to rule on the appeal of the lower court’s verdict. The Ninth Circuit has provided more left-wing rulings than any other circuit in the nation and is largely responsible for most attacks on our Christian values.  That’s why Congressman Todd Akin (R-Missouri) earlier this year introduced the Pledge Protection Act (H.R. 699). When enacted by Congress and signed by President Bush, this law would remove the Pledge of Allegiance – and issues related to it – from the jurisdiction of the federal courts. It would be Congress saying, “the Pledge of Allegiance is constitutional and it is beyond the reach of out-of-control judges.”You see, the U.S. Constitution provides Congress the power to enact legislation that is exempt from judicial review. H.R. 699 would settle the matter and protect the Pledge once and for all. So far there are more than 100 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives. But passage would require 218 votes, and we must get even more than that to have a chance of winning passage in the even more liberal U.S. Senate. That’s why we are asking that you sign this petition. It calls on Congress to act now, before “under God” is once again considered by a court. Of course, there are powerful liberal forces in Washington and in the media who oppose everything we stand for. Their agenda is to replace God with big government. Their goal is to brainwash our children at the earliest age to accept all that is governmental as good, and to reject this nation’s Christian heritage and values. Removing prayer and the Ten Commandments from schools was first. Now, their target is the Pledge of Allegiance. With your help, and that of members before you – for nearly 30 years – we have successfully pushed back against the secularist, feminist and radical homosexual agendas. We helped defeat the so-called “Equal Rights Amendment” with a massive campaign that educated, motivated and organized concerned citizens from across the United States. With your help, we can lead a new crusade to protect the Pledge and keep us “one nation under God.” I pray you will join me in this critical effort. #2. By signing the petition you will receive this flag decal (below). We ask that you prominently display this decal. This will increase public awareness of this critical campaign to win passage of H.R. 699.
